WWF Mural Project

WWF Mural Project

Working with WWF Canada, we held an Art of Empowerment mural contest for elementary and secondary schools throughout the Greater Vancouver area. Each school was to explain their vision of a world in which humans live in harmony with nature and how they could illustrate that as a mural on their school. As the winner of this contest, I have been working with the Holy Cross Regional High School, who was chosen due to their environmental awareness and environmental participation.

The Holy Cross Environment Club has four main areas that they focus on in their school: animals, nature, energy and recycling. They have currently adopted 10 animals from WWF, many of which will be included in the mural, and they have been planting trees, weeding and taking out invasive species around their neighborhood. In addition, the students have been working with BC hydro to teach elementary students the importance of energy saving as well as partnering with City of Surrey to integrate different recycling bins in their school.
